Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef for a flavorful base
  • 1 1 oz packet taco seasoning (for the classic taco flavor)
  • ¼ cup water or beef broth for richer flavor
  • 1 cup refried beans optional for extra creaminess
  • 2 cups cooked Mexican rice or instant Mexican rice for convenience
  • 4 burrito-sized flour tortillas for wrapping
  • 2 cups Fritos or Doritos adds crunch and texture
  • 1 cup cheese dip warmed like Tostitos for creamy cheese layer
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend for a melty cheesy filling
  • ½ cup sour cream for added creaminess
  • Salsa if desired (optional for topping)

Instructions

  • Cook the beef in a sauté pan, breaking apart the meat as it cooks, until browned and no longer pink. Then add the taco seasoning and water, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for 1 minute.
  • Stir in the refried beans until well combined. If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water until you reach the desired consistency.
  • Cook your Mexican rice according to package instructions, or heat leftover rice if available.
  • Warm the tortillas in the microwave for 30 seconds to make them easier to fold.
  • Assemble the burritos: Lay a tortilla flat and add a couple of tablespoons of the beef and bean mixture to the center. Follow with a couple of tablespoons of rice.
  • Add Fritos, a generous spoonful of cheese dip, shredded Mexican cheese, and a spoonful of sour cream on top.
  • Fold in the sides of the tortilla and roll it tightly into a burrito. Repeat for the remaining burritos.
  • Optional: To toast, heat the burritos in a pan over medium heat for a couple of minutes on each side until crispy and golden.
  • Serve immediately with salsa if desired.
