  • 1 Onion - Diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic - Minced
  • 1 teaspoon Salt - Adjust to taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper - Freshly ground preferred
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce - Adds umami
  • 8 oz Cream cheese - Softened
  • 1 cup Dill pickles - Chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Yellow mustard - Classic burger flavor
  • 2 tablespoon Ketchup - Adds tang and sweetness
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese - Shredded, divided
  • 12 oz Egg noodles - Cooked and drained
  • 2 tablespoon Butter - Mixed into cooked noodles
  • 2 tablespoon Milk or broth - To moisten noodles
  • 0.5 cup Bacon bits - Optional
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds - Optional topping
  • 2 tablespoon Green onions - Sliced, for garnish
  • 1 packet Onion soup mix Optional, secret ingredient
  • 1 dash Liquid smoke - Optional, adds smoky flavor

Instructions

  • Boil egg noodles in salted water until tender, then drain and mix with butter and a splash of milk or broth. Spread into the bottom of a greased 9x13 baking dish.
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef. Add diced onion and cook until softened. Drain grease, then stir in garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and optional onion soup mix.

  • Mix in softened cream cheese until melted, then stir in ketchup, mustard, chopped pickles, and half of the shredded cheddar. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  • Spread beef mixture over noodles in baking dish. Top with remaining cheese, optional bacon bits, and sesame seeds.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes until bubbly. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with green onions or raw onion for added crunch.
